Violence Against WomenOur Work
|
Violence Against WomenFor over two decades, the Women’s Law Project has worked to improve system responses to violence against women. From our groundbreaking role in working with the Philadelphia Police Department in reforming police practice investigating sex crimes to playing a major role in reforming insurance practices and state welfare requirements, WLP continues to push for systemic changes that will positively impact women's lives. WLP has uncovered and sought to reduce the many challenges domestic violence victims encounter when seeking Protection from Abuse Orders in Philadelphia. See publication: Justice in the Domestic Relations Division of Philadelphia Family Court: A Report to the Community). As part of a coalition of women’s organizations, we successfully fought for a Domestic Abuse Policy for the Pittsburgh Police Department. By educating the public about the harmful mistreatment of women, and advocating for systemic change, we seek to make women safe in their homes and on the street.
