WLP Files Complaint with Human Relations Commission

On October 27, 2005, the Women's Law Project filed a complaint with the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission on behalf of Tammy Longacre. Tammy races motocross, a sport that has a growing women's participant base. On May 1, 2005, Tammy went to Flying Dutchmen Motorcycle Club in Pine Grove, Pennsylvania, for a race. She paid her entrance fee but was denied the opportunity to race and earn points toward her American Motorcyclist Association ranking because the race course said that they were no longer running women's races. The complaint asserts that this denial of opportunity violated Pennsylvania's Human Relations Act.
