As you know, we have been working in collaboration with partners to ensure all workers have basic workplace protections during the COVID crisis.

On May 1st, Councilmember Kendra Brooks, along with Councilmembers Helen Gym and Bobby Henon, introduced Bill No. 200303. This legislation would give every Philadelphia worker access to emergency paid leave.

Workers urgently need this leave now.

Many workers were left out of the paid leave bills recently adopted by Congress, including essential workers who are risking their lives for us.

In partnership with the Coalition to Respect Every Worker (CREW), we are asking you to help us call on Philadelphia City Council to schedule a hearing NOW to move the bill closer to passage.

This legislation would:

  • Cover all workers in Philadelphia during a declared public health emergency who continue to physically report to work, including gig economy workers and undocumented workers
  • Provide 14 days of paid sick time
  • Provide full pay for workers who need to stay home because their workplaces were ordered closed, they have to care for themselves or sick loved ones, or they have to care for children whose schools or caretakers have been closed

It’s been a month since this vital legislation was introduced. Many workers have no paid leave. Yet City Council has failed to schedule a hearing on the bill.

Can You Spare Two Minutes to Help Expand Paid Leave to All Workers in Philadelphia?

We need you to do three things:

Thank you! Workers can’t wait any longer.
