This election is historic for many reasons—and one of the most important is the election of Kamala Harris, the first woman, the first Black person, and the first South Asian person to ever be elected to the office of Vice President of the United States.

A healthy democracy begins with representation of its people—a standard we have not come close to achieving in either national office or our Commonwealth. This is a huge step forward, and we share our joy in knowing little girls of all races and ethnicities can look up and see themselves reflected in such a powerful position of leadership.

As for reproductive rights and gender justice, the challenges ahead are still dire. It’s never been clearer how much work must be done to turn this nation’s promise of equality into reality. Too many rights are not safe. Too many people are not safe.

Our work will continue to focus on dismantling the systems of oppression deeply rooted in our institutions and culture, to wield the law, policy, and education to carve a more even playing field out of the soil that holds the bones of ancestors who made great, courageous strides before us, whether in the spotlight or by quietly demanding justice in their own lives.

We invite you to celebrate with us and share the work.

Please join us at our virtual gala on November 20 to share a vision of gender justice and equality for all, celebrate our resilience, and support our work as we prepare for all the new challenges ahead.

The gala is free and open to all. Registration is required and if you can, contributions encouraged.
