Today, July 14, we’re back in Commonwealth Court fighting for Pennsylvanians who rely on Medicaid to finally gain access to abortion coverage.

Arguments will take place on Tuesday, July 14, at 9:30 AM in Courtroom 3002 on the third floor of the Pennsylvania Judicial Center, 601 Commonwealth Ave., Harrisburg.

Our victory in Allegheny Reproductive Health Center v. Pennsylvania Department of Human Services was a historic step toward ending this harmful and discriminatory policy, which has denied low-income Pennsylvanians the ability to make their own reproductive health care decisions for decades.

Since our win in April, Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday has both challenged the ruling and taken steps to delay implementation of this victory. In addition to filing an appeal just before the deadline in May, AG Sunday recently filed a last-minute request that today’s hearing be heard by the full Commonwealth Court bench—an unusual maneuver that could further postpone justice for Pennsylvanians.

Our focus is urging the Court to allow implementation of Medicaid coverage for abortion to move forward while the appeal process continues.
